6 months ago, I was reading a Reddit post about the validity of Ben Wallace’s Hall of Fame candidacy. People were divided. On one hand he was a 4x DPoY, on the other he was anemic scoring option and really only had a 6 year run. I thought this debate was stupid. Ben Wallace is in my opinion one of the coolest players of my lifetime. Undrafted, undersized, absolute fucking dawg. In my opinion he should absolutely be a hall of famer, based on influence alone. In recent years, I have become jaded with all hall of fames and their over emphasis on numbers and accolades. That got me thinking, what if there was a Hall of Fame based completely on vibes, where the only criteria is looking at a dude and thinking “Hell yeah” or not. That is where I came up with the idea for the Hall of Hell Yeah, a venture I plan on launching sometime this year. I pitched the idea to Sean after a Bucks game in January, and we’ve been (mostly drunkenly) trying to figure out how to make this work over the past few months. He has taken on the role of Co-Chair of the HoHY. Together, we’re dedicated to a mission of figuring out who the most “Hell Yeah” athletes of our time are.
